Day 1 - Great Start
Wakey wakey get fucked
I will begin at the beginning of the day. I woke up at 4am, with around 4 hours of sleep. Yay. But I'm feeling fine. I got all my gear ready the night before, and I'm ready to do this.
Uber picks me up a few mins early after I shot him a message asking if he was ready. Dude was TIRED. Think it must have been his last job of the night. Beginning of my day.
Dude was chill, car was a rusted out honda civic, but I mean dude was chill. Tired but chill.
I totally pulled the sit beside him move. I don't like sitting in the back.
The Airport
Arrived to the airport with plenty of time. Dicked up the bag check shit, but I will do that in app next time I think. For whatever reason, I couldn't figure out how to use the bloody check in thing. Didn't want to take my card so idfk.
Waited in line to see the bag check lady. While waiting forever, there was a fairly large family in the express line. Most likely around 5 or so people I think.
Anyway I know one of them was a mentally handicapped gentleman. I believe he got extremely nervous, and then just threw up everywhere. Luckily I was a ways away, and I don't think anyone got hit, but it was a fuckin lot.
When I got around that area (it was the next section over for priority boarding), and good lord whatever he ate I never seen come back up.
Fucking bright green with wack chunks. Absolutely disguising. I knew at this point this day was going to be at least interesting).
The Plane
It took off, it flew like planes do, then it landed. Upright. I did watch Napoleon Dynamite for the first time.
When I landed and turned airplane mode off on my phone, I got a message from my mother more or less in a panic.
Someone was watching the news and saw that a god damn shoot out happened in the Toronto Pearson airport. In terminal 1. THE SAME TERMINAL I WAS LANDING IN!
Told her I just landed, everything was fine. The shooting happened on the passenger depart side of things. I was on the arrival side.
The Toronto airport is actually pretty nice. They have signage EVERYWHERE. If you are looking up, you will find out where you are going. I made it to the rental place without any issue.
Now to be fair, I am not up to date on my car lore. The dude had a kona. Fine, it has apple carplay and wireless at that. Very nice. That is the biggest thing I need. Adaptive cruise was a nice touch.
The Car
The car sucks btw. I want my mazda back. That care is bliss. The kona is cringe. I got on the highway and needed to gain speed, and I put my foot down to see if she would go.
I put my foot down, the revs went super high and she was getting loud! She had a mad little engine in her! The rev's keep climbing and climbing and the speed was barely moving. Like nothing would happen. Acceleration was so slow. I am so used to driving my mazda now and I miss her. She has been in the service department for most of the week for a battery problem. Its complicated.
Oh btw full screen gauge clusters are stupid btw. The mazda has one but its really good because the screen is under some nice glass, and deep in the cabin enough for it to be fine during the bright day. This does not. The sun glare on the display, plus the display being kinda dark is a problem. Put real gauges in you twats.
The main display seamed to be 120hz. Smooth and nice. But the andoid system its based on has a hard time rendering the animations for the high resolution. Regardless the backup camera I think is also in 60fps or something. Its nice actually. But its not where near my backup cameras on my Mazda.
Regardless, its fine. Its kinda zoomy. Reminds me of my micra actually. Bigger which is nice. But no guts. Oh the suspension is also like high, rims small. I have to assume it was a mini-ified other model car or something.
The only thing good about it, is its auto cruise control. The thing that keeps you from a certain distance from the car ahead of you. The mazda has this feature but its not as good as the Kona.
The issue with my car that I have with my car is that if someone changes lanes into my line my Mazda will slam on the breaks pretty hard to maintain a distance from the other car, than to use it as a buffer. I will often turn my auto cruise off or press down the accelerator when I know someone is entering.
I mean the Kona is FINE, But its Micra mentality. Need something that will work. LOL maybe ill do the upgrade next time and get the company to charge me for it.
Pure Exhaustion
Once I arrived I was amped to get things done. Got to the new location after walking right past the big sign, and asked what the progress was. The forman on sight let me know that they had the existing cabling there, just needed to hook it up.
Power was first, then it was data (ethernet). They had electrical problems trying to get it hooked up, but they did eventually.
While I was waiting, I went to the other 2 stores, and just ripped apart their old network, and stole whatever needed to come back and throw them in a box. We have two sights equipment ready to ship from the Envy store. Ill remind them in an email.
To burn some time I got some lunch at Gheezed, a fancy ass grilled cheese place in the mall. Not bad. Good sandwich. This is when I started to notice how tired I was.
To burn more time I walked around the mall a bit, went into a indigo and may have found a book I might like. Steven Kings Gunslinger. May be worth picking up.
After doing that and checking back, they where still working on it but the internet install guy arrived. I spoke to him about what was going on and all was well.
After unpacking Cash 1, I was done. I was beyond exhausted and could feel it. Legs weak, arms heavy, moms spaghetti. I did tell a dude I left before I left, but the GoCo engineer was hard at work. Someone knew at least. I was just tired.
Checked into the hotel room and PASSED OUT after bringing up my luggage. It was only for about half an hour but it helped a lot.
The Weather
Arriving in Toronto wasn't bad. Warm. Nice and warm. I like the heat. I think when I landed, it was around 15C which was like a hot day in Halifax. When I was in the mall taking down the networks, I made my way outside to move the car and it was pouring rain. I got a bit wet, but I grabbed my jacked from the car going back in.
Then I get out, and its super sunny. Beautiful. And like 20C. It felt amazing to be out in the sun again. Nice warm sun.
Stayed sunny right till the very end too.
I think the next two days are going to be majority of rain. Which kinda sucks. But its fine. Days in Ottawa look real nice.
Now
I am sitting here after grabbing a joint from a local cannabis place, and eating a massive burrito from a little place called, and I am not kidding, Fat Bastard Burrito. Its just a habanero's. Not bad stuff, good, but huge and filling. Ill save it in the fridge but Ill most likely end up throwing it out.
I have been SCARFING water down like mad here in the hotel. Hopefully the taps aren't radioactive or something. I am very exhausted but I have a bit of time to burn and I really want to lay it all down.
But I sit here and type this entry up into my first ever long distance trip alone let alone for the company. I mean I went to Yarmouth and it went fine I think.
I have my laptop tethered to my work laptop, writing this. Unfortunately the hotel WIFI is 100% insecure. Which sucks. So I get to use data. Luckily I have downloaded a bunch of stuff to my phone, so I can always watch that. I forgot to bring my wireless charger so I am charging it fully now.
But I am exhausted. I can feel my eyes fading.
